Natalie asked. "Excuse me," said Nick. "I said horny toad." Natalie started to laugh. "What's so funny?" he asked. "It's a type of lizard." "It's nothing," she said, color rising in her face. Nick chuckled. "C'mon, tell." "It's juvenile." She was clearly embarrassed by her line of thinking. Nick's leaning closer wasn't helping. Nick's mouth brushed her ear as he whispered, "tell me." Natalie let her face sink into the cool silk of his shirt. He could feel the warmth of her blush on his skin. Her shoulders were shaking. At first he thought she was sobbing. He quickly realized it was laughter. "What's the joke, Nat?" he asked. "I'm a doctor. I shouldn't get giddy over words like this." "And the word was?" "Umm... Horny." She blurted it out, then put her hands up to cover her face. "I'm never again having wine when I have dinner with you." She looked at him, attempting a serious expression. "Especially when we have to come back on duty." Nick chuckled. "I like you like this." Nat moved her hands aside momentarily. "Like what?" she asked in a small voice. He leaned down, cheek to cheek, and whispered into her ear. "Horny." Nat slapped Nick on the shoulder. "You heard me fine. I can't believe you made me say it." Nick's arms encircled her waist. "But you're so cute when you blush." "You're just jealous you can't," teased Natalie. Nick regarded her carefully. "What do you think I can't do?" "Blush." She stated. "As for anything else, I wouldn't know." "Are we speaking clinically, Doctor?" He planted a light kiss on the top of her head. "I'm not sure it'd be a proper doctor patient relationship otherwise." "And who says I want to be a proper doctor?" she asked. She reached a hand up and pinched his chest. He mouthed the word 'Ow'. "Pain reflexes seem to be working. Should I continue with the examination?" "So that's all I am to you? Just another test subject?" She shook her head 'no' and said, "Yes," a broad smile on her lips. "When's it my turn to play doctor?" he asked. She reached up to plant a soft kiss on his lips. "You don't want to ruin your pretty little head by thinking, do you?" she asked while running her fingers through his hair. Nick pouted. He lifted her up and turned her around, setting her on the autopsy table. "I think it's time for your examination, young lady." Nick got a serious look on his face as he reached towards the front of her blouse and slowly began to unbutton each button. "Nick," she protested. "Someone might come in." "Shhh," he said, raising a finger to his lips. "Who's the doctor here?" He continued with his work. When he had all the buttons undone he lay his head against her chest. Her left breast tingled from the cool sensation of his skin. "Heartbeat seems a little fast," he said. "That might be a problem, but I think I can take care of it." He reached for the front hook on her bra and opened it slowly pulling the cups back. He splayed a hand over each breast teasing the nipples between the thumb and forefinger. She leaned forward, toward him, wanting to feel more of him against her. He pulled his right hand away and again put his ear up over her heart. "It's faster now. Much better." She pulled his head away and leaned down, savagely attacking his mouth with her own. He felt himself drawn into the kiss accepting her tongue into his mouth. She probed his mouth for as long as she could without breathing. She pulled away and gasped in a breath. "You talk too much," she said and went in for a second oral attack. She rubbed her tongue over his gums and felt his fangs descend. She could have sworn he moaned or maybe it was a low growl. This time he broke away. He moved his mouth down to her breast taking care not to cause harm to the delicate flesh. Softly sucking the nipple until it was a hard little nub. She let out a small squeak as he bit down a little harder than he had intended. He looked up at her, eyes tinged with gold and slightly saddened. "Forgive me?" he asked. She knew he was doing his best to keep the beast under control and was torn between allowing him full reign or following the latest interdepartmental memos about fraternization between city employees. She answered his question with a slight nod 'yes.' He planted soft kisses at the base of her neck keeping the fangs well covered with his lips but allowing himself to taste her with his tongue. 'I'll have to shred that damn memo later,' thought Natalie. Natalie slid down off the table. She reached around and grabbed the back of his jeans pulling him closer. "And just what is your diagnosis, Doctor?" she whispered, voice husky. She could feel his erection constrained within those jeans. She ran her hands up and down his hips waiting for his answer. He made another sound. This one much closer to a growl than a moan. It was a loud growl at that. Natalie could hear the sound of approaching footsteps. Quickly approaching footsteps. She ducked out of his arms and ran for the cold room. "Ohmygod," she muttered, giggling like a schoolgirl. She peeked out from behind the door and saw Nick leaning against the table, using it to hide one problem. He was bowed over, his head resting down in his hands covering the other. Just then Grace burst in the room. "Are you all right in here?" she asked. Jeff, an attendant who occupied an office down the hall ran in, too. "What was that? It sounded like someone let an animal loose." Natalie almost forgot to rehook her bra she was so preoccupied on trying not to laugh. Grace walked over towards Nick. "Are you ok, Detective." "Fhin," he mumbled, not raising his face. "Are you getting a cold? Your voice sounds a little funny." Grace moved closer to him but he just buried his head further in his hands. "I'hm fhin." he said. "Nho pwoblhem." Natalie buttoned her shirt and hastily tucked it in. She walked out of the cold room. Time to rescue her knight. "Grace, Jeff, what's up?" she asked, attempting to look nonchalant. She didn't realize she'd misbuttoned the blouse leaving the top button on the right side undone. Grace's face reddened. "Oh, I think everything's fine." She tapped Jeff on the shoulder. "I think we should be going." "But I know I heard something," whined Jeff. Grace winked at Natalie. "Oh, I'm sure you did," she said and pulled the young man from the room. Once they were gone Nick looked over at Natalie and flashed her some fang. She laughed and whispered in his ear. "I should have figured you weren't exactly the quiet type." Nat and Nick grabbed their coats and ran out of the morgue and directly to the caddie. Grace didn't even want to ask what they'd been up to or why the Detective was wearing sunglasses in the middle of the night. But with the outward appearance of each of them when she's walked into the lab she had a pretty good idea of where they were going. "Let me drive, Nick?" Natalie asked. "Nho pwoblhem. I thihn I nehd ta pihk up thum thupplieth, ahnywhay," he said tossing her the keys. "Ihl fly." She kissed him on the cheek. "Race you." Nick could hear the tires on the caddie squealing from a couple blocks away as he got airborne and headed towards the Raven. He landed at the loading dock at the Raven and was met there by LaCroix. "Again, Nicholas?" his master asked. Nick cowed his head and nodded. "Thahns," he said as he took the case of human blood. Nick was quickly away, not waiting for a reply. "He's the eternal adolescent," snapped LaCroix. "But at least it gets him off the cow." Nick crashed through the skylight, too excited to open it, and discreetly put the case of human blood in the middle of the kitchen table. Then he thought for a second and decided maybe that wasn't quite a discrete place so he moved it to under the piano. Then he wondered what would happen should he want to serenade Natalie with a lovely bit of piano music later. After. He hoped after. He really, really hoped there'd be an after. And decided it was a bad spot also. He put a few bottles into the refrigerator and stashed another couple in his bedroom in the black silk pajama drawer. But then he wondered if he might have to share his black silk pajamas and moved them to his sock drawer. He realized while she might enjoy his silk pajamas and maybe even peek to see if he was a boxers or briefs man but his socks were most likely safe. After he was done stashing bottles discreetly all over the loft he remembered why he had been stashing the bottles in the first place and began to wonder where Natalie had gone. He thought about going out to look for her. Then he thought that he'd better be here when she arrived. Then he just thought about her and got sort of this silly grin on his face. Little did Nick realize that while he had been resupplying himself her haste had brought her under the scrutiny of the law. Some rookie cop, his first night on traffic, pulled her over. He obviously had not worked in the city long enough to recognize the car. "Can I see your license and registration, M'am?" he asked. Natalie muttered something about cops and dug through her purse. She handed him her license and official identification card. "Do you know how fast you were going?" the officer asked. "I'm in a bit of a hurry," she said. "I work for the city. I'm the night shift M.E." He nodded, face devoid of emotion. "I see," he said slowly. Torturously slowly to Natalie's ears. "And is this official business?" he asked. "Look, Officer, I just got off work. I have a sick patient to see." "I believe you said you were the coroner, M'am." "Yes, I am," she replied. "Well, then. I can't believe your patients are in that much of a hurry." Natalie almost wished Nick had been there to drain the man. Just then a second car pulled up behind the rookie's. It was Captain Reese. He walked over and smiled at Natalie. "Nick's car tonight?" "He asked that I bring it by his place," she said. "How'd he get home? He just called in to book off." Natalie tried to think of anything that would sound truthful and decided a lie would work much better. "We traded cars, Captain. I had to take his in for service." Reese nodded. "I don't think we need to detain the Doctor any longer, do you, Rookie?" "But sir," he said, protesting. "We can't just let people..." "How long would you like to be on traffic, Rookie?" asked Reese adding a touch more authority to his voice. "Not long, sir," he replied finally catching the hint. "Then I expect you make a few friends. Lighten up a little." Reese grabbed Natalie's ID and license from the young man and handed them to her. "Say hi to Nick when you see him." Reese winked. Natalie wasn't quite sure what he meant, but she gladly accepted the cards and drove off. Reese had already heard from Grace this evening. He would risk upsetting on rookie in traffic in order to keep his star detective and favorite coroner happy. Natalie carefully followed the speed limit the rest of the way to the loft. As soon as she arrived she gunned the car into the garage and ran for the elevator. Nick was there to greet her the moment she stepped off. "Everything ok? No damage?" "I'm fine, Nick." "I meant the caddie," he said. She slapped him on the shoulder. "Ow." He pouted. "You don't feel pain," she reminded him. "That doesn't mean you can't kiss it and make it better." He gave her the puppy dog face. She kissed then lightly nibbled on the spot she punched. "Interesting technique," he said. "Now, where were we?" "I believe you were going to show me your bedside manner." He held her hand for a moment, a serious look attempting to cross his face. "Are you sure about this?" he asked. She leaned in and kissed him. "Oh yeah." She prodded him back, pushing gently against his chest. "I think it's the perfect time." She shoved him back a little further. "And we're in the perfect place." She pushed again. This time he went tumbling over the back of the couch landing awkwardly on the cushions. "You're not getting out of it this time, Mr. de Brabant." He kneeled up to face her, pulling her against the back of the couch. "I thought I was the one playing doctor this time." "You waited too long," she said reaching for the buttons on his shirt. At the second button she found the whole process just far too slow and ripped the shirt open. She ran her hands across his chest then around to his back, planting kisses starting at his neck and working down his chest. "I'll buy you a new one," she murmured between kisses, working her way lower. He grabbed her chin and brought her mouth up to meet his, holding it in place with a hand at the back of her head. He used his other hand to untuck her blouse then he ripped it open. "We're even," he said, momentarily releasing her mouth. She dropped her arms so she could quickly shrug off her blazer and blouse. "I never liked that blouse anyway," she said, getting a rare chance to breath. He matched her kisses, slipping off his own shirt. She reached down for his belt. "I'm not too fond of these jeans, either." "Good. How do you feel about your skirt?" "Hate it," she whispered. He reached his cool hands down her back and ripped it apart at the seam. "Glad to hear that." He leaned back, pulling her over the couch and on top of him. She started kissing her way down his chest. She grabbed a few chest hairs in her teeth and pulled. "I don't think that's fair," he said. She kicked off her shoes then bent over to kiss him again. "I keep telling you not to think," she said. Natalie went back to working her way down his body using her mouth to find the route. Nick was very much fighting for the control over the vampire but still winning at this point. 'At least his growling wouldn't bring anyone running into the loft,' she hoped. "Nick?" she asked. "Yeth?" "Will you take your shoes off?" "Thorry," he muttered, awkwardly kicking them off. Nat unzipped the zipper of the jeans. Nick lifted his hips to help her slowly ease them and his silk boxers over his erection. She pulled his jeans down to where they were bunched around his thighs and took his stiff member in her hand. "We doing ok up there?" she asked, slowly stroking up and down. Nicks eyes were shut so tight it caused his whole face to become scrunched up. He shook his head quickly. Nat stood up and quickly wiggled out of her panties and panty hose. She straddled back over Nick's hips. "Nick, are you going to look at me?" "I think it'th thafer if I don't," he replied. She leaned down and rubbed her face against his. "Still doing ok?" He nodded again. "Yeth," he managed to get out. "But chould ya thpeed up a lithle." "Doctor's orders?" she asked. "Oh yeth." he said. "Pleathe?" She settled back letting him slide inside of her. She was wet and more than ready to take him in. She reached for his hands and guided them up to her breasts. He realized she was still wearing a bra and ripped that off. "Alwayth hated tha, too." "You never saw it before," she teased, starting to gently ease herself up and then lowering herself back onto him. "I have an imaghinashun," he said. "And I dohn't think I imaghined liking it." Nat started to move with more urgency as Nick pressed up his with his hips, indicating his need. He moved one hand down her body and began massaging her clit. With the other hand he reached under the couch and pulled out one of the bottles he'd stashed earlier in the evening. He yanked out the cork with his teeth and began to drain the contents. His hips were bucking wildly as he drove himself up into her. Her breathing became more ragged as she reached a peak, urged on by both his penis and his hand. As Natalie felt her need rising to climax she called out his name. He finished draining the bottle and tossed it away, his blood allowing him to find release. She slumped down on top of him enjoying the touch of his cool body against her heated skin. He planted a light kiss on her temple. She looked at him, blue eyes meeting blue. "So, Doctor, how would you rate my bedside manner now?" he asked. She lightly rubbed his cheek with her hand and smiled. "I don't believe we've tried the bed yet," she said. "I'm afraid I can't say." She stretched out on top of him still enjoying the luxury of his body against hers. "We'll have to find out sometime," she said. "Soon," he agreed. "Very thoon."
